My name is Alana, I am 22 years of age, I am from New Zealand and I very much enjoy cake.

But more than cake I enjoy that feeling you get in your chest when exploring places I have never been, meeting unique people from around the globe and getting in touch with different cultures. 

 

I was born and raised in a small town just outside the capital of New Zealand, Wellington. At the age of 16 I had moved with my parents to Gold Coast, Australia where I graduated high school whilst working in the hospitality industry.

 

At 19 I felt as though I was beginning to merge into a routine of  sleeping, working and not too much in between. Everyone around me seemed as though they knew where they were going in life, they had some sort of direction whether it being university, family businesses etc etc. The only thing I knew for sure was that I had a strange unexplainable urge to want to do something just a little bit crazy to excite or find some kind of meaning to my life. 

 

It didn’t take too much to convince myself that leaving my family and moving overseas was a brilliant idea. That year was the year of saving money, booking visas, packing bags and jetting off solo to the other side of the world.

 

The following two years of my life I lived in the magnificent and dangerous city of London, exploring new and exciting countries almost every month, learning and loving whilst being around spectacular people and finding out things about myself I had no clue that I had in me.

 

I have just recently returned to Australia after my working holiday visa in the UK expiring. I am a completely different person, I feel a lot more love, peace and excitement towards life and I am pumped to see what will be just around the corner.
